Our member, Wiola Rebecka Davie, has just returned from Ukraine from a 4-day training with SEMA Ukraine. The workshop, co-organised by the Mukwege Foundation, Східноукраїнський центр громадських ініціатив (Eastern-Ukrainian Center for Civic Initiatives), and the International Council of Polish Women+(Polonijna Rada Kobiet), consisted of internal strategic discussions and holistic care dedicated to the survivors of sexual violence in war zones. The conference took place in a stunning and peaceful part of the Prykarpattya region. It was participated by 10 members of SEMA Ukraine.
The first two days of the training focused on SEMA Ukraine’s development strategies, including organisation registration, grant applications and admission of new members. One of the exciting topics discussed in detail was the trip of SEMA Ukraine members to New York and a meeting with UN and US representatives to discuss the support needs for war rape and sexual violence survivors in Ukraine.
The second part consisted of psychological training and was delivered by Wiola. Wiola introduced self-regulating techniques and discussed the war rape syndrome and the complex approach to therapy. The members of SEMA Ukraine learned about the methods used to support and advocate for other survivors of rape and sexual violence in armed conflicts, such as the emotional freedom technique (EFT), and non-judgemental and active listening.
Wiola is a renowned American-Polish war rape and trauma specialist, therapist and writer. She is also the initiator of our collaboration with SEMA Ukraine.
We are happy that thanks to your donations to our SEMA Ukraine fundraiser, we could cover Wiola’s travel expenses and enable direct face-to-face training.
Wiola is also very grateful for the opportunity to meet our SEMA sisters from Ukraine and the ability to pass over her experience, knowledge, and mental support in person. She related that also important were side activities: fishing, singing, dancing and making flower crowns together. Our SEMA sisters could finally relax and find a respite among friends and beautiful nature. Away from the war.
We know she made some personal sacrifices to get there from the US, and after a 2-day trip, she thought the final part of the route would have to be made on a horse.
So we would like to give a special thanks to the Centrum Praw Kobiet (Women's Rights Center) from Krakow, for driving Wiola from Poland to Slovakia. Sisterhood beyond the borders.

- Pierwsza pomoc - bandaże/opatrunki/kremy antyseptyczne.

SEMA Ukraine, znana jako Ukraińska Sieć Kobiet Dotkniętych Przemocą Seksualną, to grupa kobiet dotkniętych przemocą seksualną, które od 2019 roku prowadzą kampanię podnoszącą świadomość społeczną na temat przemocy seksualnej oraz wspierającą emocjonalną rekonwalescencję innych ocalałych osób na terenie Ukrainy. SEMA niesie pomoc kobietom, które doświadczyły przemocy seksualnej I gwałtów z rąk Rosjan i ich sojuszników w czasie obecnej inwazji, w tym kobietom z Buczy, Irpienia i Gostomlu. Członkinie grupy za swoje działania otrzymały od Rosjan groźby śmierci.
Niniejszą zbiórkę prowadzimy jako Polonijna Rada Kobiet+ we współpracy ze Stowarzyszenie Łódzkie Dziewuchy Dziewuchom, które jest częścią PRK+ i udostępniło swój profil zrzutki oraz konto stowarzyszenia do organizacji zrzutki.
Całkowity dochód jest przeznaczony na potrzebną PILNIE pomoc humanitarną i sprzęt ochronny dla walczącej grupy kobiet.

SEMA Ukraine (Fanpage na Facebooku tutaj) jest częścią międzynarodowej organizacji prowadzącej kampanię przeciwko przemocy seksualnej i gwałtu wobec kobiet w czasie wojny. SEMA Ukraine to sieć ukraińskich kobiet, które doświadczyły przemocy seksualnej w okresie konfliktu w regionie Donbasu w 2014 roku. Kobiety były poddawane gwałtom, okaleczeniom narządów płciowych, wymuszonej nagości, torturom oraz nagrywaniu na wideo aktów przemocy seksualnej wobec nich. Po inwazji Rosji 24 lutego 2022 r. historia się powtarza. Słyszymy coraz więcej doniesień świadczących o napaściach seksualnych na ukraińskie kobiety. Większość członkiń SEMA pozostaje na Ukrainie i walczy o swoją i naszą wolność. Potrzebują naszego natychmiastowego wsparcia.
Polonijna Rada Kobiet+ to międzynarodowy kolektyw Polek mieszkających na całym świecie, wspierany przez polskie migranckie organizacje feministyczne (Nasz Fanpage na Facebook tutaj). PRK+ to nasza parasolka, a obecnie - przede wszystkim nasza tarcza i broń - pod którą każda z nas może się schronić i którą każda z nas może użyć do walki o prawa kobiet. Chciałybyśmy aby parasol bezpieczeństwa obejmował nasze siostry Ukrainki, które niepewne o przyszłość swoją, swoich dzieci i bliskich, wzywają świat na pomoc.

Po tym wydarzeniu jako Polonijna Rada Kobiet+ zdecydowałyśmy się zorganizować bezpośrednią pomoc humanitarną oraz zbiórkę sprzętu ochronnego dla SEMY. Wiemy też, że SEMA potrzebuje regularnej pomocy, a największym wyzwaniem jest transport na tereny działań wojennych.
W imieniu SEMY dziękujemy za wsparcie ich walki i kampanii przeciwdziałającej przemocy seksualnej wobec ukraińskich kobiet!

Support NEEDED URGENTLY for transport, medical and humanitarian aid !!!
We are crowdfunding for:
- Non perishable foods (tins, packets, dried) with long shelf life
- Shelter - sleeping bags, blankets, foil blankets.
- Medicines - painkillers, diarrhoea treatments. Must have 13 months life.
- First aid - bandages/dressings/antiseptic creams.
- Torches, headlamps, thermal flasks.
- Toiletries, female sanitary, incontinence items, Vaseline, toothpaste, creams for dry skin, shampoo, conditioners.
- Baby items - nappies, new feeding bottles, feeding cups, formula milk, toiletries, medications (Calpol etc)
- Good quality/new adult clothes
- Good quality/new adult shoes and slippers
- New underwear for women
SEMA Ukraine, known as the Ukrainian Network of Women Affected by Sexual Violence, is composed of survivors who have been raising general awareness and supporting the emotional recovery of other survivors of sexual violence throughout Ukraine since 2019. The members of the group are themselves survivors of sexual violence and have received death threats from the Russians for their actions.
As the Russian war is getting more and more cruel, SEMA Ukraine is involved in supporting women who expierienced rape and sexual violence in all regions of Ukraine, including Bucha, Irpin and Gostomel. The members of SEMA need our support right now. We are helping them collect money for medical products, humanitarian aid and for gasoline so they continue their humanitarian work and defend their country. Some of them had their houses destroyed by shelling: your donation can provide them with a safe shelter to rest.
Hear their voices: ‘We are Ukrainian women who have suffered from Russian aggression in Donbas. Each one of us has felt the cruelty of the occupiers. We endured tortures, sexual violence and years of illegal detention in Russian-occupied territories. [...] But we did not give up, we did not break.’
We run this emergency fundraiser on behalf of SEMA Ukraine as the International Council of Polish Women+ (Our Facebook Fanpage) in cooperation with Association Gals4Gals from Lodz (Facebook Fanpage), who made avaliable their zrzutka profile and association bank account for this crowdfunding.
All proceeds go towards urgently needed humanitarian aid and protective gear for the fighting group of women.

SEMA Ukraine is part of an international organisation campaigning against sexual violence against women in wartime.
SEMA Ukraine is a network of Ukrainian women who suffered sexual violence during the all-too-often forgotten conflict in the Donbas region that started in 2014. Women were subjected to rape, mutilation of sexual organs, forced nudity, torture, and video recording of acts of sexual violence against them. After the Russian invasion on 24 February 2022, history is repeating itself. We hear an increasing number of reports evidencing sexual assaults against Ukrainian women As many members of SEMA remain in Ukraine and fight for their freedom, they need our support to protect their freedom.
The International Council of Polish Women+ is a collective of Polish feminists living abroad, supported by Polish migrant feminist organisations. PRK+ is our umbrella, and especially these days - our shield and weapon, under which each one of us can seek support in our stand for women's rights. We wish today the umbrella of safety would cover our Ukrainian sisters who, uncertain about their future, their children and their loved ones, call the world for action to help.

After this event, as the Polish Women's Council+, we decided to organize a direct humanitarian aid and protective equipment for SEMA. We also know that SEMA needs regular help, and the biggest challenge is transportation to war zones.
