The TePeWu community in Gliwice, with the support of Grupa Nieustającej Pomocy (Permanent Assistance Group), is organizing a fundraiser for a trans man, referred to as P. for privacy reasons.
P. is currently in the early stages of recovering from a deep life crisis (in all aspects) with the direct help of the community. He needs to get his life in order before he can begin his transition. Our first goal is to provide basic stability, i.e., safe housing, a place and conditions where he can rest and recover from years of trauma and sort out his legal matters.
Only then will it be possible to complete the transition in all its aspects, which the Permanent Assistance Group and Katowice's Tęczówka have committed to helping with. This fundraiser is intended to finance the housing budget—renting an apartment where P. will feel safe, have contact with the rest of the community, and be able to participate in its activities.
At the moment, we need PLN 1,500 immediately to extend the temporary apartment (paid until September 8) for another month. At the same time, we are starting to look for a long-term place to live. The estimated budget is a maximum of PLN 2,500 per month for one year, plus the costs of a deposit, furnishings, etc. Above all, we ask you for regular donations. These will add up and allow us to help P.
One-off donations will go into a buffer fund for the deposit, emergency expenses, and other costs.
TePeWu, through its registered association, aims to launch a business activity to provide mutual assistance, but this will take months, and the apartment is needed by September. We will keep you informed of our progress during the fundraiser.
Transgender people face poverty, unemployment, exclusion, and health problems more often than cisgender people in their communities. Our goal is to build a strong mutual aid network that will make us stronger and happier together.
