She is a 19 year old Kenyan girl born on one of the islands in Lake Victoria - Mfangano. Last year I was very fortunate to befriend Juliet as I helped volunteer at her home, farm, local school, and activities of WAGEGO, an organization that provides education to orphans on the island. During this time, I experienced the immense amount of love coming from all the family members and was able to get to know their big hearts gushing with the desire to educate and develop.

Juliet Beverly is the youngest daughter of 6 siblings in the Agagwa family. I have seen what a hardworking, loving and kind person she is. She takes care of the house, the animals, fetches water from a nearby lake every day, works with her mom on the farm, and takes care of 6-year-old Flora, an orphaned girl their family took in. Her older brothers and sisters have already completed their education thanks to the hard work and loans taken out by their mother - a teacher at one of the elementary school in Mfangano. This year in February, Juliet entered Sang'alo University of Science & Technology in Bungoma City, Kenya to study Analytical Chemistry IT. Her dream is to help develop technology that improves the standard of living for communities in need.

I, the person creating the droplet, am Hania and I travel the world with circus art in my hands and tons of love in my heart. Wherever I am, I try to engage in some meaningful community service. Because of the close bond Juliet and I formed during the weeks we spent on the island, I decided to publicize this urgent need for support through education, which, as is well known, is the best way to raise the standard of living. It is through educated individuals that poor and oppressed communities can be helped.

WHY ARE WE ASKING FOR SUPPORT?

Juliet's annual tuition is 26,420 KSH (Kenyan Shilling), equivalent to about 250 USD. On top of that there are fees for books, food and accommodation.

Residents of Mfangano Island earn an average of US$1.5 per day. The ability to find work on the island is very limited, and uprooting to the mainland and seeking employment in nearby towns is now almost impossible due to the pandemic state Kenya has been in for over a year. For about 6 months, schools were closed, so Juliet's mom had no way to get money to support her family, much less pay school fees. It is Juliet's brother, David, who tries to provide for her education by working hard running the island's only beauty studio and print shop. However, the money raised in this way is not enough for Juliet to continue her education and for the Agagwa family to live in peace of mind about their future.
