Sansa is sick and injured and needs treatment and special food. Will you contribute to the vet bills?

This is Sansa, my cat who I adopted 12 years ago and who has been my companion for almost her entire life. I adopted her together with her sister Arya, who were both found outside alone with a dead mom. Ever since they have lived a cozy life at home. Unfortunately Arya passed away recently due to kidney failure, which lead to kidney cancer that spread to the lungs. Not long after this happened, I got the bad news that Sansa also has kidney issues, although they are in the early stages for now. One of the symptoms this is causing right now is excessive urination, often outside of the litterbox. Without treatment Sansa will not have much time left as the kidney issues will then rapidly progress and cause more serious symptoms and eventually death. This can happen in a matter of months. However, with treatment, Sansa can still live a happy and relatively healthy life for several more years. Unfortunately the treatment is also very costly.

In addition to the costs incurred by taking care of Sansa's kidney issue, she unfortunately recently also had a serious accident where she fell badly and broke her hip in the process. As she is older and this is therefore a very risky situation, Sansa needed emergency surgery, meds and several tests done as well. The total costs for the surgery, meds and tests done at the emergency clinic add up to 2452 złotys. Now that she has returned home, she will face having to rehabilitate her hip and will need to take physio to help the healing process. There will likely be further costs associated with rehabilitation while she relearns how to walk.

Cost breakdown

To manage Sansa’s condition, she will need to undergo a variety of medical treatments and be on a special diet.

These costs include:

-         Subcutaneous drip, once a week – 20 zł per drip, totalling 100 per month.

-         medications, which include Nefro Activ, Cylanic, Urinoloxan, Dermipred (for her skin issues), KalmVet – around 50 zł for 1 month.

-         Special food with a cost of around 8-10 zł per can, totalling 450-600 zł per month.( she shares the food with my younger cat, Triss, who usually cannot be fed separately)

-         Monthly blood and urine tests, totalling 200 zł per month.

-        Physical therapy, costs to be determined.

This does not include things like checkups and unexpected medical costs associated with managing her condition. Unfortunately there is no permanent cure for her kidney condition, and this treatment is therefore indefinite. The goal of 5000 złotys is to cover to cover the hip bill and part of the kidney treatment. Anything over this goal will also go to the ongoing kidney treatment in the coming months.

Will you help contribute to Sansa’s treatment?

Even though she is an older kitty, Sansa can still live a dignified and happy life with this treatment, and she still has much energy in her at the moment, with an appropriate appetite. She is a calm kitty that likes to be petted but also has a playful side and likes to play fetch when you throw her a paper ball. With your help this will not be a treatment with an undue burden and Sansa will be able to live a dignified rest of her life.

Sansa jest chora, miała wypadek i potrzebuje leczenia. Czy pomożecie, dokładając się do rachunków?

Oto Sansa, moja kotka, którą adoptowałem 12 lat temu i która towarzyszy mi przez niemal całe swoje życie. Przygarnąłem ją razem z jej siostrą Aryą – znaleziono je na podwórzu razem ze zmarłą mamą. Od tamtego czasu żyły wygodnie w moim mieszkaniu. Niestety Arya niedawnoi zmarła w wyniku raka nerek, który przeszedł też na płuca. Niedługo później okazało się, że Sansa również ma problemy z nerkami, chociaż na razie na wczesnym etapie. Jeden z objawów to nadmierne oddawanie moczu, często poza kuwetą. Bez leczenia nie zostanie jej zbyt wiele czasu, jako że wtedy problemy z nerkami szybko pogorszą się i doprowadzą do poważniejszych objawów i ostatecznie śmierci. To może stać się w ciągu paru miesięcy. Ale dzięki leczeniu Sansa może przeżyć jeszcze szczęśliwie i względnie zdrowo kilka kolejnych lat. Niestety terapia jest też kosztowna.

Oprócz kosztów związanych z chorobą nerek, Sansa niestety miała ostatnio poważny wypadek, w wyniku którego złamała biodro. Jako że jest starszą kotką, taki upadek w jej przypadku to dość poważna sprawa. Sansa potrzebowała nagłej operacji i różnych leków i badań. Całkowity koszt operacji, leków i badań w klinice zajmującej się nagłymi przypadkami to 2452 złotych. Teraz, gdy wróciła do domu potrzebować będzie rehabilitacji i musi jak najszybciej rozpocząć fizjoterapię. Z rehabilitacją związane będą więc dodatkowe koszty.

Koszty leczenia

Aby zatrzymać rozwój choroby, Sansa potrzebuje odpowiednich zabiegów i leków. Do kosztów należą:

-         Cotygodniowe kroplówki – 20 zł za każdą dawkę, łącznie ok. 100 miesięcznie.

-         leki, takie jak Nefro Activ, Cylanic, Urinoloxan, Dermipred (na problemy ze skórą), KalmVet – około 50 zł miesięcznie.

-         Największy koszt to specjalna karma, kosztująca około 8-10 zł za puszkę, łącznie 450-600 zł miesięcznie.(je wspólnie z moją młodszą kotką, Triss; niestety karmienie ich osobno nie jest zwykle możliwe)

-         Comiesięczne badania krwi i moczu, łącznie około 200 zł miesięcznie.

Nie obejmuje to dodatkowych badań kontrolnych i nieoczekiwanych kosztów medycznych związanych z rozwojem choroby. Niestety nie można jej w pełni wyleczyć, więc podlegać będzie leczeniu przez całe życie oraz kolejnych kosztów związanych ze złamanym biodrem. Cel 5000 złotych pokryje koszty leczenia po wypadku i część leczenia choroby nerek. Jeśli uda się przekroczyć tę sumę, pójdzie ona na dalsze leczenie Sansy w kolejnych miesiącach.

Czy pomożesz w leczeniu Sansy?

Chociaż jest już sędziwą kotką, Sansa nadal może żyć godnie i szczęśliwie dzięki leczeniu. Nadal ma sporo energii i apetytu. Jest spokojną kotką, która lubi być głaskana, ale też bawić się aportując papierowe kulki. Dzięki waszej pomocy mimo obecnych problemów finansowych będę w stanie zapewnić jej komfort przez resztę życia.
