[ENGLISH BELOW] Wychodzimy z inicjatywą rozwinięcia na większą skalę jednego z projektów dotyczących edukacji kobiet w Ugandzie. Pozwoli on tutejszym dziewczynom na całkowitą zmianę swojego życia. Dzięki zaangażowaniu jednego z mieszkańców udało nam się dotrzeć do grupy dziewcząt, które nie miały wcześniej możliwości, aby zdobyć odpowiednie wykształcenie pozwalające im na niezależność.

SKĄD W OGÓLE TEN POMYSŁ?

Przebywam obecnie na wolontariacie w Ugandzie, a dokładnie w miejscowości Kayabwe położonej na równiku. Przygarnęła mnie do siebie dwójka przecudownych ludzi z pełnymi miłości sercami i z ogromnymi pokładami energii do działania. Początkowo miałam zajmować się jedynie dziećmi w centrum rozwoju, które udało się założyć dzięki pomocy lokalnej społeczności, a w tym rodziny, u której mieszkam czyli Shimoniego i Hariett. Centrum rozwija się od kilku lat, również dzięki Shimoniemu, który zaprasza do siebie wolontariuszy z różnych części świata żeby razem z nimi i całym zespołem działać dla dobra najmłodszych.

Razem z Shimonim wybraliśmy sześć dziewczyn, które obecnie są moimi najbliższymi sąsiadkami. Cztery z nich, w dużej mierze, ze względu na brak świadomości, naiwność i braki w edukacji, zostały matkami w bardzo młody wieku. Ponadto zostały porzucone przez ojców swoich dzieci. Gdyby nie najbliższe rodziny, nie miałyby ich za co wykarmić. Dwie pozostałe dziewczyny nie mają dzieci, jednak ich dobry start w przyszłość nie pozostawia złudzeń. Każda z tych dziewczyn pochodzi z wielodzietnej rodziny. Ich standard życia nie należy nawet do przeciętnej klasy średniej. Nie mogą sobie pozwolić na więcej niż potrzebne im do przeżycia.

Chcę podkreślić, że ani w tym projekcie, ani nawet w swoim życiu nie chcę skupiać się na dawaniu pieniędzy i przyzwyczajaniu ludzi do otrzymywania ich kiedy tylko wyciągną rękę. Te dziewczyny jej nie wyciągają. Wyciągnijmy ją my i pokażmy im jak edukacji może zmienić całe ich życie. Dając im szansę na rozwój, dajemy przykład ich dzieciom, które są przyszłością. Ich życie nie musi wyglądać, tak jak życie ich mam. Mogą mieć lepszy start dzięki większej świadomości i wiedzy, którą chcemy przekazać ich mamom.

Koszt nauki znacznie przekracza możliwości rodzin, które opiekują się tymi dziewczynami. Nawet dla nas nie jest to mała kwota. Rok nauki tutaj podzielony jest na 2 semestry, a każdy z nich kosztuje 200$. Dwa lata nauki, to szansa dla każdej z tych dziewczyn na zdobycie umiejętności pozwalających im na znalezienie pracy, utrzymanie siebie i dzieci, odciążenie rodziny i na niezależność.

Chcemy pomóc tutejszym dzieciom, które rozczulają nasze serca? Pomóżmy najpierw ich mamom stać się przykładem siły i niezależności. W końcu to od nich nauczą się najwięcej.

JUSTIN

Justin ma 20 lat i podobnie jak reszta uczestniczek projektu pochodzi z niewielkiej miejscowości Kayabwe w Ugandzie.

Jest najstarszą siostrą dla Keviny, Edwina, Henry’ego, Phiony i Ronalda oraz mamą dla dwuletniej już Majorine. Jako jedna z bardzo wielu kobiet tutaj tuż po porodzie została porzucona przez ojca swojego dziecka, który przede wszystkim nie chciał ponieść odpowiedzialności finansowej.

Mimo wszystko Justin należy do grona szczęśliwców ponieważ może liczyć na wsparcie rodziców, które jednak ze względu na wielkość rodziny jest bardzo ograniczone.

Jedyną szansą na realną możliwość zdobycia niezależności finansowej i odciążenie najbliższych jest ukończenie kursu przyuczającego do zawodu.

Justin wybrała krawiectwo - jak sama mówi, tylko ze względu na możliwość godnego życia.

TEDDY

Teddy skończyła już 22 lata i ma przy sobie dwójkę wspaniałych dzieci (4 lata i 2 lata). Została porzucona dopiero gdy urodziła drugie dziecko.

Jej największym i tak naprawdę jedynym marzeniem jest posiadanie własnego salonu fryzjerskiego, co pozwoli jej odciążyć rodzinę.

Jak dotąd jedynym źródłem dochodu dla niej, dzieci i jej mamy jest siostra, która pracuje w sklepie w stolicy. Ojciec, który wcześniej utrzymywał rodzinę zmarł.

EMIRINA

20 letnia Emirina jest mamą dla 8 miesięcznego Morice’a. Mieszka wraz z mamą i 6 rodzeństwa.

W przeciwieństwie do Justin, Teddy i Hellen nie została porzucona przez ojca swojego dziecka, jednak nie mają oni wystarczających funduszy, aby zamieszkać razem.

Jej największym marzeniem jest zostanie fryzjerką i otworzenie salonu fryzjerskiego.

Chciałaby dzięki swoim umiejętnościom pomóc dziewczynom w podobnej sytuacji oraz móc stworzyć prawdziwy dom dla Morice’a.

DIANA

Diana ma 19 lat i ze względu na ciężką sytuację finansową rodziny nie skończyła nawet szkoły podstawowej.

Obecnie mieszka jedynie z czterema siostrami, mamą i babcią gdyż jej ojciec również zmarł. Chciałaby w końcu umieć coś, co pozwoli jej wstać z drewnianej ławki przed domem i zarobić pieniądze.

Jej zdaniem najlepsze, czego może się nauczyć to właśnie fryzjerstwo.

W późniejszym czasie chciałaby również uczy go innych, aby pomóc dziewczynom podobnym do niej.

KATHARINA

Katharina podobnie jak Diana jest nastolatką (14 lat), która nie miała możliwości kontynuować nauki z powodu ciężkiej sytuacji finansowej w domu.

Mieszka razem z mamą, tatą, 6 siostrami i bratem. Podobnie jak jej koleżanki chciałaby zostać fryzjerką i otworzyć swój własny salon.

Jej największym marzeniem są podróże, które na razie pozostają w nierealnej sferze.

HELLEN

Helen ma 21 lat i urodziła Gabriella 3 lata temu. Została wtedy porzucona przez ojca chłopca, który nie chciał ponieść odpowiedzialności.

Nigdy więcej go już nie spotkała. Ma 7 rodzeństwa, którym rownież się opiekuje.

Marzy o zostaniu fryzjerką żeby zaoszczędzić pieniądze i wyjechać do Stanów lub Kanady.

We are taking the initiative to develop on a larger scale one of the projects concerning the education of women in Uganda. It will allow local girls to change their lives completely. Thanks to the involvement of one of the residents, we managed to reach a group of girls who had not previously had the opportunity to get a proper education that would enable them to be independent

WHERE DID THIS IDEA COME FROM?

Currently I am being involved in a voluntary work in Uganda, more precisely in the town of Kayabwe on the equator. I have been staying with two wonderful people. Their loving hearts and huge amount of energy drive them to make a change. Initially, I was supposed to deal only with children in the development center, which had been established thanks to the help of the local community, including the family I have been staying with, Shimon and Hariett. The center has been developing for several years now. Shimon iinvites volunteers from various parts of the world to work together with them and the whole team for the benefit of the youngest.

Shimon and I have chosen six girls who are now my closest neighbors. Four of them, mostly due to lack of self- awareness naivety and lack of education, have become mothers at a very young age. In addition, they were abandoned by the fathers of their children. If the closest family was not involved in helping them, they would not be able to provide for their children. The other two girls do not have children, but their good start in the future is not that clear. Each of these girls comes from a large family. Their standard of living does not even belong to the average middle class. They can not afford more than they need to survive.

I want to emphasize that neither in this project nor even in my life I want to focus on giving money and accustoming people to receive it when they ask for. These girls do not ask for it. Let's show them how education can change their whole lives. By giving them a chance to grow, we give an example to their children who are the future. Their life does not have to look like their mums; lives. They can have a better start thanks to the greater awareness and knowledge that we want to convey to their mothers.

The cost of studying far exceeds the possibilities of families who look after these girls. Even for us, this is not a small amount. The year of study here is divided into two semesters, each of them costs 200$. Two years of study is a chance for each of these girls to acquire skills allowing them to find a job, provide for themselves and their children, to help the family and to gain independence.

If we want to help local children who make our hearts melt, let’s help their moms to become an example of strength and independence first. After all, they are the ones from whom they will learn the most.

JUSTIN

Justin is 20 years old and, like the rest of the project participants, comes from a small village of Kayabwe in Uganda. She is the eldest sister to Kevin, Edwin, Henry, Phiona and Ronald, and mother for a two-year-old Majorine. As many women in Africa, she was abandoned by a father of her child just after it’s birth. Nonetheless, Justin belongs to the group of lucky people since she can rely on the support from parents, which, however, due to the size of the family is very limited. The only real opportunity to gain financial independence and relieve the loved ones is to complete the vocationalcourse. Justin chose tailoring - as she says, only because of the possibility of a dignified life.

TEDDY

Teddy is 22 years old and has two wonderful children (4 years and 2 years). She was left alone by her partner after the birth of the second child. Her biggest and, in fact, the only dream is to have her own hairdressing salon, which will help her relieve the family.So far, the only source of income for her, the children and her mother is a sister who works in a store in the Capital City The father who previously Provided for the family, passed away.

EMIRINA

20-year-old Emirina is a mother for 8 months old Morice. She lives with her mother and 6 siblings. Unlike Justin, Teddy and Hellen, she was not abandoned by the father of her child, but they do not have enough funds to live together. Her biggest dream is to become a hairdresser and open a hairdressing salon. She would like to help girls in a similar situation thanks to the skills she will have a chance to gain, and to be able to create a real home for Morice.

DIANA

Diana is 19 years old and she has not even graduated from elementary school due to her difficult financial situation. Currently, she lives with her four sisters, mother and grandma unfortunately her father died. She would like to finally obtain a knowledge that would allow her to get up from the wooden bench in front of the house and make money herself. In her opinion, the best thing that she can learn is hairdressing. Later, she would like to teach others to help girls like her ass well.

KATHARINA

Katharina, like Diana, is a teenager (14 years old) who did not have the opportunity to continue her education because of the difficult financial situation at home. She lives with her mother, father, 6 sisters and brother. Just like her friends, she would like to become a hairdresser and open her own salon. Her biggest dream is traveling, however, due to her current situation, it seems to be unrealistic at the moment.

HELLEN

Helen is 21 years old and she gave birth to Gabriella 3 years ago. She was then abandoned by the father of a boy who did not want to take the responsibility. She has never met him again ever since. She has 7 siblings, whom he looks after. Her dreams are to become a hairdresser, to save money, and to go to the United States or Canada.
