Celem niniejszej zrzutki jest zebranie funduszy na zakup książek od ukraińskich wydawców.

Choć w obliczu wojny może wydawać się, że książki nie są rzeczą pierwszej potrzeby, to jednak ich terapeutyczna moc jest nam dziś bardzo potrzebna. Głęboko wierzymy, że czytanie wpływa na poczucie bezpieczeństwa i staje się namiastką normalności w rozumieniu otaczającego świata. Czas z książką to chwila wytchnienia i oderwania się od świata, który niesie niepokój. Dzięki książkom dzieci mogą też lepiej zrozumieć swoje emocje, znaleźć rozwiązanie w trudnych sytuacjach i wzmacniać poczucie własnej wartości i sprawstwa.

Zbiórka powstała w wyniku inicjatywy osób zaangażowanych bezpośrednio w promocję czytelnictwa w Polsce (Fundacja Metropolia Dzieci oraz osoby zaprzyjaźnione, pracujące w innych instytucjach rynku książki). Pragniemy w duchu solidarności wesprzeć w tym trudnym czasie ukraińskie wydawnictwa i dzieci, które w ostatnich dniach uciekając przed wojną przybyły do Polski.

DONATE A BOOK TO UKRAINIAN CHILD 

Although it may seem that books are not necessarily essential under the shadow of war, their therapeutic power can be. 

Reading books provides moments of relief and distance from the world that brings anxiety. Thanks to books, kids can learn and better understand their emotions, and strengthen their self-confidence and self-worth, despite the chaos around. And as such, reading creates feelings of security and, in times of disruption, offers small doses of normality. 

Ukrainian children need special attention and care right now. Most of them don’t speak languages other than their own. They miss their country, family, friends – they are missing out on normal childhood. This is why we would like to give those children and their parents the opportunity to spend time together with books written in their language.

The purchased books will be distributed to the public libraries all over Poland, and especially to the ones close to the Ukrainian refugee clusters. The books will be available to both younger and older children, which will strengthen and multiply our nationwide outreach and serve as a comfort away from home, that the war has taken away. 

All the operations within this project are carried out by volunteers, and any financial income is being spent on purchasing and distribution of the books. All volunteers have many years of experience working with books distribution and their promotion.
