The International Festival of European Bagpipe Regions "Dudarski Rej" was founded in 2017. The festival takes place on the first weekend of May and usually coincides with the beginning of traditional Belarusian spring holiday - Jurja. The idea of ​​the festival is to gather representatives of various bagpipe regions of Europe in one place. Hlybokaje, a small town in Belarus, was not randomly selected for this purpose. Hlybokaje District is one of the richest bagpiping regions of Belarus, the homeland of pipers-musicians, pipers-poets, pipers-artisans. All major cultural institutions of the town and district take part in the festival. Dudarski Rej became an annual meeting of great importance for its the residents and the festival is now one of the region's main emblems. In 2017, Dudarski Rej gathered pipers from Poland, the Czech Republic, Scotland and Belgium. In 2018, Hlybokaje hosted musicians from Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Portugal and Latvia. This year, the festival is scheduled for 3-5 May. There will be representatives of Croatia, Macedonia and other bagpipe regions of Europe. As we are developing and growing we are also in need of help from ordinary bagpipe fans and lovers. We don't want to rely on big corporations which will influence the free spirit of the festival. Even the small financial contribution of each of you can help us to be better hosts to bagpipers and make the festival even more vivid and unforgettable. You can have certainty that not a penny will be spent on remunerations as all invited bagpipers pay for their tickets themselves! Your money will help us to solidify the cause of the festival and to support this particular bagpipe region and the work of numerous volunteers. Collected funds will be spent on basic needs such as accomodation and meals for musicians, but also on printed materials, such as calendars, badges, folders, books, souvenirs etc. If we collect enough funds an extended book publication "Bagpipers of Hlybokaje" by Vital Voranau will be published as well.
