There are no words to describe the degree of the humanitarian crisis that is taking place in Ukraine. A war of this magnitude has the capacity to bring out the very worse in humanity. Yet, some of the greatest acts of humanity, compassion and friendship are currently taking place at the Polish/Ukrainian border. At the time that we write this, over 1 million Ukrainian refugees have already fled into Poland. It is expected that millions more will enter Poland in the weeks and months to come, as Poland is expected to accept the most refugees displaced by this crisis.

The miracle of this story is based on the extraordinary work of ordinary Polish citizens, the likes of Tatiana Romaniuk. To date there has not been a single refugee camp erected in Poland! This is simply unprecedented in all of world history, given the number of refugees involved. Every Ukrainian refugee has found shelter in the loving homes of their neighbours, as thousands of people continue to open their doors to their Ukrainian neighbours. Upon entry into Poland every Ukrainian refugee is provided food, medical care, financial assistance, transportation, shelter and even a free cellular plan. Most importantly friendship and love by the likes of Tatiana and so many others.  

This donation page is dedicated to an ordinary, yet remarkable, Polish citizen of Ukrainian descent living in Warsaw. Tatiana Romaniuk, is a cab driver in Warsaw who decided to visit the Polish/Ukrainian border when the conflict in Ukraine began. Her intent was to spend a day and offer some form of assistance. Little did she know what she was in for. To this day she has not returned home and continues to provide direct humanitarian assistance at ground zero along with her group of collogues that she met along the way.

Tatiana is risking it all, with no regards for her own life or financial well being. In between the many moments of tears that she shares with us, we often see her smiling. She is truly an angel. Making 1-2 trips daily into Ukraine, sometimes into active combat zones. On the way in, Tatiana, packs her Toyota Camry with blankets, clothes, food, water, and other medical supplies. Driving miles into Ukrainian territory while distributing supplies along the way to those that she cannot fit into her car. These supplies allow the more resilient to continue their journey on foot to the Polish border. Taking up to 10 people per trip, she then begins her journey back to Poland. On the way, she posts on social media groups about the families she is driving and connects with ordinary citizens that are opening their homes and providing care. Allowing refugees immediate shelter.         

Her story is beyond compelling, recently being featured on Polish TV, moving the journalist into tears. This broadcast was picked up in Canada, from which we now wish to extend donations for her and her team efforts internationally. Although, there are many humanitarian organizations on the ground, it is ordinary citizens like Tatiana that can ensure that every donation gets into the right hands. Working as a part of a larger volunteer group through a self coordinated effort provided by ordinary citizens.

Your financial support will allow Tatiana and her group to continue their efforts and give directly to the Ukrainian families that they are bringing into Poland. Up until now, Tatiana has been covering all associated costs out of pocket. This includes fuel, medical supplies, critical items that they cannot find in donation centers, and financial assistance to the most vulnerable. They gave up their jobs, time with their own family, and continue to risk their lives to assist in this humanitarian crisis. We must help!  

The original donation page had a goal of 10,000 Polish Zloty or appx $2200 USD. But the need is almost endless at this point. The humanitarian efforts are likely to continue for months if not years, thus, we need all the support we can receive.

Nie ma słów, by opisać stopień kryzysu humanitarnego, który ma miejsce na Ukrainie. Wojna na taką skalę potrafi wydobyć z człowieka to, co najgorsze. Jednak jedne z największych aktów człowieczeństwa, współczucia i przyjaźni mają obecnie miejsce na granicy polsko-ukraińskiej. W chwili, gdy piszemy te słowa, do Polski uciekło już ponad milion ukraińskich uchodźców. Oczekuje się, że w nadchodzących tygodniach i miesiącach do Polski napłyną kolejne miliony, ponieważ to właśnie Polska ma przyjąć najwięcej uchodźców przesiedlonych w wyniku tego kryzysu.

Cud tej historii opiera się na niezwykłej pracy zwykłych polskich obywateli, takich jak Tatiana Romaniuk. Do tej pory w Polsce nie powstał ani jeden obóz dla uchodźców! Jest to wydarzenie bez precedensu w całej historii świata, biorąc pod uwagę liczbę uchodźców. Każdy ukraiński uchodźca znalazł schronienie w kochających domach swoich sąsiadów, ponieważ tysiące ludzi nadal otwierają swoje drzwi dla ukraińskich sąsiadów. Po przyjeździe do Polski każdy ukraiński uchodźca otrzymuje żywność, opiekę medyczną, pomoc finansową, transport, schronienie, a nawet darmowy telefon komórkowy. Co najważniejsze, przyjaźń i miłość, którą okazują Tatiana i wielu innych ludzi.  

Ta zbiórka poświęcona jest zwykłej, ale niezwykłej obywatelce Polski ukraińskiego pochodzenia, mieszkającej w Warszawie. Tatiana Romaniuk jest taksówkarką w Warszawie, która postanowiła odwiedzić granicę polsko-ukraińską, gdy rozpoczął się konflikt na Ukrainie. Jej zamiarem było spędzenie jednego dnia i zaoferowanie jakiejś formy pomocy. Nie wiedziała, co ją czeka. Do dziś nie wróciła do domu i wraz z grupą kolegów, których spotkała po drodze, kontynuuje świadczenie bezpośredniej pomocy humanitarnej w strefie zero.

Tatiana ryzykuje wszystko, nie dbając o własne życie ani o swój dobrobyt finansowy. Pomiędzy wieloma łzami, którymi się z nami dzieli, często widzimy ją uśmiechniętą. Ona jest prawdziwym aniołem. Codziennie odbywa 1-2 podróże na Ukrainę, czasem w rejony walk. W drodze Tatiana pakuje swoją Toyotę Camry w koce, ubrania, jedzenie, wodę i inne środki medyczne. Przejeżdża kilometry na terytorium Ukrainy, rozdając po drodze zaopatrzenie tym, których nie może zmieścić w swoim samochodzie. Dzięki temu osoby, które są bardziej odporne, mogą kontynuować podróż pieszo do granicy z Polską. Zabierając do 10 osób na jedną wyprawę, rozpoczyna podróż powrotną do Polski. Po drodze zamieszcza w mediach społecznościowych informacje o rodzinach, które wiezie, i kontaktuje się ze zwykłymi obywatelami, którzy otwierają swoje domy i zapewniają opiekę. Umożliwiając uchodźcom natychmiastowe schronienie.
