Echo is fighting for his life. The raven that spent years helping others now needs help himself.

Echo is not a wild raven.

He is part of the AVI Wild Animal Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Opole – a unique bird that has served as an educator and ambassador for wildlife for years. Thanks to him, thousands of people have been able to learn about the world of ravens, their intelligence, sensitivity, and extraordinary behavior. For many, he has become a symbol of wildlife, and his presence at the AVI center has helped save and understand many other animals.

It all started suddenly.

On June 15th, Echo began losing strength in his legs. Initially, these were subtle symptoms, but his condition rapidly deteriorated. We immediately began intensive diagnostics – blood tests, X-rays, ultrasounds, MRIs, swabs, and extensive laboratory tests for infectious and parasitic diseases were performed.

On June 25th, Echo stopped walking.

The MRI revealed changes in the spine and compression of the spinal cord. That's when the dramatic fight for his mobility and life began.

For a long time, the test results were inconclusive. Viral diseases, chlamydia, mycoplasmosis, and parasites were ruled out. Blood tests were mostly normal, except for mild liver failure and the presence of inflammation.

Only the latest culture results revealed significant growth of staphylococcus – a bacterium that can also attack spinal cord structures. The treatment was modified again, with new medications and intensive physiotherapy, including INDIBA therapy performed daily.

Echo Doesn't Give Up

Despite the paralysis in his legs and the inability to walk, Echo remains fully conscious. He recognizes me, responds, and constantly seeks contact.

Sometimes, despite his weakness, he can crawl just to climb onto my lap. These are heartbreaking moments, but they also demonstrate how strong his will to live is.

Every day, from dawn, I fight to keep his muscles in the best possible condition. Assistance with lifting, rehabilitation, and constant care are absolutely essential – without them, his muscles would suffer irreversible atrophy.

Echo has never been a "touchable" bird. He has always valued independence and distance. Yet today, he accepts every treatment, every help, and every attempt to restore his mobility with immense humility.

Hope in Rehabilitation

Despite Echo's very serious condition, the first cautiously optimistic signs are emerging.

The doctors treating Echo indicate that the Biomag 3D pulsed magnetic therapy device could be a significant therapeutic aid.

This is a modern rehabilitation method used to treat neurological, orthopedic, and musculoskeletal disorders. In Echo's case, time is of the essence – the sooner the therapy can be implemented, the greater the chance of regaining mobility.

Unfortunately, the device is very expensive and beyond my means.

This isn't just for Echo.

The Opole Center for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Wild Animals (AVI) treats hundreds of wild patients each year – birds of prey, owls, ravens, storks, foxes, roe deer, hedgehogs, and many other species.

The purchase of the mat and the 3D magnetotherapy system will allow me to introduce modern rehabilitation in the center and in daily intensive care – without the need for stressful and exhausting trips for the animals.

This equipment will serve many patients for years to come – in cases of paralysis, neurological injuries, fractures, and serious injuries.

Echo walczy o życie. Kruk, który przez lata pomagał innym, dziś sam potrzebuje pomocy

Echo nie jest dzikim krukiem.

Jest częścią Opolskiego Centrum Leczenia i Rehabilitacji Dzikich Zwierząt AVI – wyjątkowym ptakiem, który od lat pełni rolę edukatora i ambasadora dzikiej przyrody. Dzięki niemu tysiące osób mogło poznać świat kruków, ich inteligencję, wrażliwość i niezwykłe zachowania. Dla wielu stał się symbolem dzikiej natury, a jego obecność w ośrodku AVI pomogła uratować i zrozumieć wiele innych zwierząt.

Wszystko zaczęło się nagle

15 czerwca Echo zaczął tracić siłę w nogach. Początkowo były to subtelne objawy, ale jego stan szybko się pogarszał. Natychmiast rozpoczęliśmy intensywną diagnostykę – wykonano badania krwi, RTG, USG, rezonans magnetyczny, wymazy oraz szerokie badania laboratoryjne w kierunku chorób zakaźnych i pasożytniczych.

25 czerwca Echo przestał chodzić.

Rezonans wykazał zmiany w obrębie kręgosłupa oraz ucisk na rdzeń kręgowy. W tym momencie rozpoczęła się dramatyczna walka o jego sprawność i życie.

Przez długi czas wyniki badań nie dawały jednoznacznej odpowiedzi. Wykluczono m.in. choroby wirusowe, chlamydiozę, mykoplazmozę i pasożyty. Badania krwi były w większości prawidłowe, poza lekką niewydolnością wątroby i obecnością stanu zapalnego.

Dopiero ostatnie wyniki posiewów wykazały znaczne namnażanie gronkowca – bakterii, która może atakować również struktury rdzenia kręgowego.

Leczenie zostało ponownie zmodyfikowane, wprowadzono nowe leki oraz intensywną fizjoterapię, w tym terapię INDIBA wykonywaną codziennie.

Echo się nie poddaje

Pomimo porażenia nóg i braku możliwości chodzenia Echo pozostaje w pełni świadomy. Rozpoznaje mnie, reaguje i wciąż szuka kontaktu.

Czasami, mimo swojej słabości, potrafi czołgać się tylko po to, by wdrapać się na moje kolana. To chwile, które łamią serce, ale jednocześnie pokazują, jak silna jest jego wola życia.

Każdego dnia od samego świtu walczę o to, by utrzymać jego mięśnie w jak najlepszej kondycji. Pomoc w podnoszeniu, rehabilitacja i stała opieka są absolutnie konieczne – bez nich doszłoby do nieodwracalnego zaniku mięśni.

Echo nigdy nie był ptakiem „dotykalskim”. Zawsze cenił niezależność i dystans. A jednak dziś z ogromną pokorą przyjmuje każdy zabieg, każdą pomoc i każdą próbę przywrócenia mu sprawności.

Nadzieja w rehabilitacji

Mimo bardzo poważnego stanu pojawiają się pierwsze ostrożnie optymistyczne sygnały.

Lekarze prowadzący Echo wskazują, że ogromnym wsparciem terapii mogłoby być urządzenie do pulsacyjnej magnetoterapii 3D firmy Biomag.

To nowoczesna metoda rehabilitacji stosowana w leczeniu uszkodzeń neurologicznych, ortopedycznych i schorzeń układu ruchu. W przypadku Echo kluczowy jest czas – im szybciej uda się wprowadzić terapię, tym większa szansa na odzyskanie sprawności.

Niestety koszt urządzenia jest bardzo wysoki i przekracza moje możliwości.
