Support Mattia's Artistic Growth: Help Fund a New Camera!

Hi, my name is Mattia. I'm a Photography and Intermedia student at the University of Arts in Poznań, Poland. I'm raising funds to support my photography career. Unfortunately, my camera is on the verge of breaking, and I need to upgrade to a newer, more professional one. As a student, I can't afford it myself, so my mother and I have decided to create this fundraiser.

For a while now, I've been documenting safe spaces created by the queer community in Poland, and I aspire to take it to the next level. However, quality cameras and lenses come with a significant cost, and as a student, it's not something I can easily afford. Even the smallest donation would be incredibly appreciated and make a huge difference. I'm grateful to everyone who shares this and helps me reach my goal.

My current equipment is struggling in the dynamic conditions I work in. My worn-out Sony A6000 has reached its limits and no longer meets my expectations. It's time to transition to more professional gear. Moreover, due to heavy usage, my camera is deteriorating, with the shutter getting stuck, autofocus performing poorly, and longer image processing times.

I'm currently collaborating with Pozqueer, a local queer collective, photographing their events. However, my passion doesn't allow me to save up for expensive equipment. I take on additional freelance assignments whenever possible, but it's still insufficient to save up for professional gear. Balancing full-time work with my studies would require giving up event photography entirely.

Often, I photograph events as a favor, either for free or for a small honorarium, as organizers often have limited budgets. It's a challenging cycle because without better-paid opportunities, it's difficult to save up for new equipment, and without better equipment, it's challenging to secure higher-paying assignments. Moreover, if my camera breaks, I'll lose my only source of income.

Unfortunately, I can't save up for my dream equipment on my own. My goal is to acquire a professional Fujifilm XT-4 camera, along with lenses and accessories, estimated to cost 15,000 PLN (approx. $3,500). The chosen camera model has a reinforced, weather-sealed construction, allowing me to work in challenging conditions. It offers superior features, including a better sensor, processor, and autofocus, compared to my current camera. This upgrade will significantly enhance my development as a photographer.
