It was an ordinary day. Thursday, like many on the calendar. After returning from work, Ewelina, 29 years old, started preparing dinner. Being an active person with many interests, after lunch she and her fiancé were planning to clean and restore old bicycles, the parts of which they had prepared beforehand. They planned to go on a bike ride together. Unfortunately, there was a self-ignition of the fumes from the extraction gasoline. In a fraction of a second, the fire spread throughout the kitchen.

Ewelina made the toughest decision of her life. Faced with the choice of either dying and being burned alive or jumping into the fire, she chose the latter. She chose life. In a very critical condition, she was transported by helicopter to a hospital in Sosnowiec. After the initial assessment of her injuries, she was transferred by ambulance to the Burn Treatment Center in Siemianowice Śląskie.

On-site, second and third-degree burns covering almost 50% of her body were diagnosed. The burns affect her face, neck, hands, and legs. Currently, Ewelina is engaged in a difficult battle with pain, bitterness, and immense suffering. She has been diagnosed with PTSD.

After leaving the clinic, Ewelina faces a long and painful rehabilitation and private treatment since there is very limited coverage by the National Health Fund (NFZ). She needs to purchase ointments, medications, wound care supplies, as well as travel to the clinic for check-ups.

Upon leaving the clinic, Ewelina will not be able to return to work for at least a year, and it will be difficult to cover the costs of treatment, rehabilitation, and check-up travels with her disability pension.

In the midst of all this, there is a glimmer of hope because Ewelina has a wonderful partner who is constantly by her side, providing support. You may be wondering about the wedding. Love conquers all, and it will happen. If not in two months, then in the near future, as soon as Ewelina is able.
