I am going to tell you the story.

Story of one small, unnoticed and unwanted by anyone soul and miracle, that just happened.

We have visited SriLanka – Kalpitya with group of kiters.

First days after arrival there was lots of kiting, partying, talking, eating, sleeping … over and again…

But the place was magical. There is some indescribable vibe and after few days, we all started to notice changes, becoming more emotional, more into you, more quiet and gentle.

And than, one Man found something. A small puppy dog, hiding behind his kite, from the wind and the heat, and like thousands of other stray dogs in SriLanka for sure he would be forgotten and abandoned.

But the dog looked at the Man and the Man’s heart just broke. Puppy was dying. No power to drink, eat or walk, no fur. But there was a hope in the Puppy’s eyes and he was still waving his bold tail saying “I just need someone who loves me for one second, just one…".

And the Man decided to give him his love, for more than a second. He protected him from the other dogs, and from other people’s shoes. He was feeding him everyday and gave him comfort and love.

From a dying spark he made a small fire and the whole puppy’s body started to be alive again, from that time we all could see happy and loved soul in puppy’s eyes.

But the Man was sad, as he knew that he will go back home soon and small fire will extinguished.

The Man was looking for someone who could continue taking care of this fragile being.

No one really cared, as it was always something more important to do…

So the Man was still taking care of him, keep searching for someone who will take care of the puppy once he leaves. He even took him to vet and bought all the medications needed. But the Man was becoming more and more upset…

His power of love and obstinacy finally paid back as more people got involved and joined his crusade. Someone called foundation, someone ask neighbours to feed him.

The day to go back home finally came around. The Man was sad, sitting with his new friend under the palm to say good-bye, he didn't know that…

And then the phone rang… someone smiled, someone started to cry and the Man’s heart exploded in happiness as one of Foundation decided to take small Puppy, to take care of him, cure and feed him and after few months send him to Europe to the Man who saw the fire in the dying spark.

The dog's name is “Backroll”

Ola and Ania found the right Foundation for him.

Sometimes we can make just a little to do so much.

I can see now, that if we want to change this world for a better one, we can give just so little to make such a big change.

We have created fundraising campaign to finance “Backroll” until he is home and to support the Foundation.

SRI LANKA STRAY DOGS

SriLanka has huge problem with stray dogs. Government is doing nothing or less to solve it.

There are some private initiatives and small foundations that try to do whatever is possible.

We can help them to safe at least one soul
