Their daughter and elder son attend high school. Mrs. Ania has suffered from schizophrenia for years, experiencing severe relapses every few years that require hospitalization. While they manage a farm, after the last bout of illness, Mrs. Ania is heavily medicated and unable to work on the farm. She struggles to manage the household and occasionally escorts her son to school. The four eldest children are in college, earning scholarships for their excellent academic performance, which helps sustain them. Mr. Marek is a painter and artist. He used to paint, organize exhibitions, and sell his works. He also filmed landscapes for guides promoting the commune. However, due to overwhelming responsibilities and problems, he hasn't painted for many years.

Despite these adversities, the family strives to stay together and dreams of things that many of us take for granted: access to education for the children, stability in Mrs. Anna's health, and Mr. Marek's return to his passion for painting.
