U pięcioletniego bratanka mojej żony, Szymona, który jest światowej sławy ekspertem od dinozaurów, zdiagnozowano medulloblastomę (guza mózgu) IV stopnia – najwyższego stopnia złośliwości. Został przewieziony do szpitala, gdzie przeszedł operację i guz został pomyślnie usunięty. Na jego kręgosłupie odkryto jednak kolejne zmiany, które są nieoperacyjne... Po kilku sesjach chemioterapii pojawiła się NADZIEJA - Szymon został zakwalifikowany do terapii protonowej w Essen, która precyzyjnie niszczy komórki rakowe nie uszkadzając zdrowych narządów dziecka. Rokowanie jest znakomite, jest duża szansa na wyzdrowienie i powrót do normalnego życia. Koszty leczenia są jednak kolosalne – około 50 000 euro za samą terapię. Dlatego bardzo proszę o pomoc. My wife's five year old nephew Szymon (Simon), who is a world-famous dinosaur expert, was diagnosed with medulloblastoma (brain tumor) grade IV - the highest grade of malignancy. He was rushed to a hospital where he underwent a surgery and the tumor was successfully removed. Two new ones were discovered on his spine though and they were inoperable... After several chemotherapy sessions there is now HOPE - Simon was qualified for proton therapy in Essen that precisely destroys cancer cells without damaging the healthy organs of the child. The prognosis is excellent, there's a great chance for recovery and for his return to a normal life. The treatment costs are colossal though - around €50,000 (over £42k) for the therapy alone.
