W zeszłym roku udało nam się zebrać ponad 3 tysiące złotych na mikroskop, bandaże i inny potrzebny sprzęt. W tym roku próbujemy sięgnąć jeszcze wyżej i jeśli się uda to kupimy EKG, a jeśli uda się razy dwa, to do Afryki pojedzie też sprzęt USG. Wszystko w Waszych rękach! Wszystkie osoby, które dokonały wpłaty przed pojawieniem się nagród również je dostaną.

Jak zakochałam się w PAWS

Jest takie miejsce na świecie, dla którego tracisz głowę i gdzie zostawiasz całe swoje serce. Dla mnie takim miejscem jest Mauritius. Mała, egzotyczna wyspa na Oceanie Indyjskim, na którą po raz pierwszy trafiłam w lipcu 2016 roku. Większość osób kojarzy tą wyspę z wakacjami pod palmą, ale poza palmami są tam też bezdomne psy. Szacuje się, że na wyspie jest od około 50 do 80 tysięcy bezdomnych psów (kotów nikt nawet nie liczy).

Wybierając się na tę rajską wyspę możecie być pewni, że opalając się na plaży będziecie to robić koło schorowanego burka, a pod restauracją towarzyszyć Wam będzie głodny kot. Praktycznie każdy z tych zwierzaków jest chory i potrzebuje opieki medycznej, a do tego większość z nich jest niewykastrowana. O to by polepszyć ich byt stara się PAWS, ale często ich działania blokowane są przez finanse (a właściwie to ich brak). Nie mogą przez to rozwijać kliniki, bo nie są w stanie odłożyć na to pieniędzy, dlatego chciałabym im pomóc.

Do PAWS wracam regularnie od trzech lat i pomagam im jak tylko mogę. Niosę pomoc głównie fizycznie - będąc wolontariuszem pięć dni w tygodniu, dlatego że sam wyjazd jest dla mnie dość dużym wydatkiem. Klinika i schronisko PAWS utrzymują się głównie z datków od prywatnych osób (czyli Was!), czy firm i hoteli. Wystarcza to na utrzymanie budynków, opłacenie terenu, nakarmienie schroniskowych psów, a od czasu do czasu wysterylizowanie tych bezdomnych.

Budynek jest w średnim stanie. Dach przecieka na recepcji, podłogi i ściany wyłożone są takimi materiałami, które ciężko jest utrzymać w czystości, nie wspominając już o psich wybiegach. W zeszłym roku udało nam się odmalować część pomieszczeń farbą, którą można myć na mokro, więc przynajmniej gabinet lepiej już wygląda. Płoty są częściowo wyremontowane (brałam udział w ich wymianie trzy lata temu), ale te stare są połatane blachą i splątane drutami. Nie wspominam już o brakach w sprzęcie medycznym.

Kiedy w zeszłym roku ponownie ich odwiedziłam, to w pierwszy dzień pracy stała się tragedia. Pies był przygotowywany do operacji i podczas intubowania nie zauważyłam z inną wolontariuszką, że zanikł oddech. Zobaczyłyśmy to niestety o kilka sekund za późno i pies nie przeżył... Mała, młoda, czarna kulka, a było można temu zapobiec. Prawdopodobnie takich sytuacji można by uniknąć, gdybyśmy mieli sprzęt do monitoringu. Często brakuje tam rąk do pracy, które sprawdzałyby tętno i oddechy, więc trochę trzeba liczyć na szczęście... Czasami tego szczęścia zabraknie niestety.

W tym roku nie będzie tutaj długiej listy zakupów, tak jak w roku poprzednim. Przedmioty są dwa, za to strasznie drogie - nawet te używane. Kupimy taki sprzęt i w takiej cenie na jaki będzie nas stać dzięki tej zbiórce, a wiadomo, że niestety im droższy, tym lepszy. Zwłaszcza, że konieczne jest, by nie ważył 150 kg, bo trzeba będzie go często przenosić np. na akcje sterylizacji w innych częściach wyspy.

- USG - sprzęt, który pozwoli badać bez konieczności otwierania jam zwierzęcia. Czasami jest to u nas nieuniknione, bo samym badaniem palpacyjnym (czyli macaniem i uciskaniem) nie jesteśmy w stanie stwierdzić, co się dzieje. USG pomogłoby ułatwić diagnozę.

Głównym celem jest monitor, którego koszt to od 3 do nawet 10 tysięcy złotych, co możecie zobaczyć w linkach. Dlaczego tak drogo? Sama chciałabym wiedzieć!!! Resztę środków będziemy odkładać na kupno USG. Wszystkie zakupy ze zbiórki, a także przekazanie darów będziecie mogli oglądać na story na moim instagramie @wasiolkaontour. Pokażę tam również wszystkie dowody zakupu, tak jak w zeszłym roku (zeszłoroczną zrzutkę możecie zobaczyć w zapisanych stories).

When You are going to Mauritius You can be sure, that while sunbathing, You will wind a sick dog, or a hungry cat next to you. Almost all of animals there are sick, hungry, and need some help. PAWS is there to help them, and make their life a little bit better, but unfortunately they are limited. Limited by money (the lack of money actually). They can’t develop, and renovate the clinic because of that. Most of money they have is from donations – from hotels, companies, and people – people like You. But even with their will to help people they also have some other limitations – equipment.

Equipment is something I really want to bring them this year. Last year because of money collection I was able to bring the microscope for them, this year I would love to give them an electromonitor from You. This can help them to check a heart beat and breaths during the surgery. This is more than needed.

Last year, first day of my work – me and another volunteer were helping with preparing a young dog for surgery. She was already under the anesthesia, and we wanted to put tracheal tube. Unfortunately she stopped breathing, and we realized this few second too late. Nothing could be done, a dog died… She could still be there if there would be a monitor, which would tell as asap that something is wrong! Let’s bring them this equipment, so they can help even more people!

If we collect more money, then we would love to buy a second hand ultrasonography machine.
