ABOUT US:

We are The Association for Female Empowerment, a high-school student-run activism group in Warsaw, Poland. We work to create an open space for students to share their experiences, discuss events in body politics, and collaborate on initiatives to empower and support under-resourced students. Our efforts include organising weekly meetings, debates, and guest presentations; building a peer-to-peer support system; and producing the Female Narrative podcast (anchor.fm/female-narrative).

In our pursuit to reach these aims, we are organising the “Beyond the Glass Ceiling Conference.” The event will celebrate the stories and share the advice of leading women in traditionally male-dominated fields. We hope to connect young women with role models in their aspiring profession and motivate them to pursue their goals no matter their gender or socioeconomic barriers. The conference will take place on March 17th at 5:00 pm CET with speakers such as Dame Stephanie, Miracle Ewim, Linda Cox, Małgorzata Druciarek, and more. OUR GOAL

During the event, we will be fundraising for our initiative, “Equity Education,” which tutors and provides educational resources to underprivileged students in Poland, and hopefully after the conference internationally!

We will work with orphanages, women’s shelters, and community centres to provide basic educational necessities to students. With the funds, we will purchase books, textbooks, stationery, and electronics. Additionally, our volunteers will teach students in a wide variety of subjects (e.g. languages, mathematics, science, humanities, etc.). However, we want to support students beyond their basic education. Hence, we will organise outings and externships, teach them skills such as personal finance and CV writing, and motivate them to explore unconventional careers no matter their gender and socioeconomic barriers.

Considering the current war in Ukraine and the inflow of refugees in Poland, our first initiative will be to support Ukrainian students. If you are unable to donate but would like to volunteer, please reach out to The Association for Female Empowerment founder Natalia Buchajska ([email protected]).
