Odessa, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, jewel of a Black Sea, Pearl by the Sea, a welcoming harbour to many is now facing the war, destruction and death of its residents. Shelling of the city and the surrounding had people scurry into their basements, bomb shelters or forced them to flee their homes to find a refuge in other areas in Ukraine or in the neighbouring countries, Poland including. Many of the city's beautiful sites and residential areas have been destroyed. News does not seem to be any better: according to the Ukrainian intel, more shelling and air strikes are yet to come.
We, a group of volunteers based in Kraków (Poland), decided to help in any way we can:
- we distribute clothes, hygiene products and food to refugees
- we are fundrising to purchase merchandise to be handed in the refugees
- we are gathering donations to bring them to distribution center
- we show others where help is needed
- we host refugee families
- we purchase tactical gear to be shipped to Odessa and support Ukrainian military men
- we collect funds to fund petrol for drivers transporting humanitarian aid through war-torn Ukraine to Odessa.
Tactical gear (gloves, shoes, belts, sleeping bags) and medical supplies (tactical wound dressing, tourniquets, tactical first aid kits) are still among the most most needed items and still difficult to acquire in Ukraine itself. Hence private people from all over the world are trying to help and organize shipments into Ukraine's cities.
We have a Polish volunteer, Borys Tynka, in Odessa who hands in transported supplies to the military. For aid to reach Odessa, ground transportation is needed and this generates high petrol costs we are trying to fund.
We rely on 4 brave drivers, who are risking their lives transporting supplies to Odessa and, if required, extracting people from war-ridden territories of Ukraine. They volunteer to be drivers, often driving their own vehicles. They rely on a goodwill of people like you to donate towards the cost of petrol, we all know it's expensive.
What can 2,000 PLN (roughly 420 EUR / 445 USD) get you:
- 12-18 pairs of tactical gloves
- 18-24 sleeping bags
- 6-12 military shoes
- Approximately 255 litres of petrol
Please donate as much as you can. It's all for a great cause, for Ukraine's and our protection, for preserving lives.
Your 25 USD / 25 EUR is not a staggering amount for you. For us it means a lot.
