Description

This is something I never thought I would have to do in my life, ask for help!

My name is Mónica and my partner Mauro, we need and appeal for help and a friendly word will always be good in our hearts... Our youngest puppy Odin, just 3 years old this February, was diagnosed with leukemia. Our ground fell, tears began to fall, despair began to exist and longing is beginning to haunt our hearts.

Odin was rescued in Arruda dos Vinhos (Portugal), more specifically São João dos Montes, in the old quarry, but he was left there with the intention of dying and suffering because it is very hot in August. He appeared and was a new joy, Nymeria, our 5-year-old girl, loves him and welcomed him so well that we thought “where he eats one, he eats two” and that's how it was, our Odin stayed with us. When we received Odin, he was not healthy at all, he had anemia, skin problems, unimaginable thinness, ticks and fleas all over his body, but after almost 2 months of visiting APAVET (Veterinary Clinic in São Pedro da Cadeira) Every few weeks I can tell you that you wouldn't believe the recovery.

After this he was always a healthy puppy, with good canine friendships and full of energy to play, chew walls, steal slippers and pee in the strangest corners of the house! He loves sleeping in the bed between the two of us, and always gives us a goodnight kiss. It's a son!

However, time passed and as a couple we decided to immigrate and Poland was the place. The trip was a little stressful for everyone, but we arrived safely and guess who felt like peeing on the first pillar of the airport! Poland works really well for Odin, there are parks and parks for dogs everywhere so he can't escape, and the snow makes him go really crazy.

The year 2023 passed and unfortunately started in a less positive way. Odin started to get depressed, he slept all day and only played there for about 15 minutes. We thought it was strange, but what we thought was that maybe he missed having a friend to play with. We started going to the park more often, but nothing encouraged him, you could see that something was wrong with your eyes. It was then that one day after a couple's outing, we arrived home and found a scene that looked like it came from a crime or a horror movie. The living room was full of pools of blood, the smell was horrible and we felt the

despair invading our soul. Odin was pale, with very little strength, with a fever and very thirsty, and when I say a lot I mean a lot. He was taken to the Veterinarian and given some medication to make him feel better, half a bag of serum was given, he looked like someone else! The doctor thought he had ingested something that was bad for him, but for the next few days Odin didn't want to eat, he slept all day, he barely moved and only wagged his tail when he went outside, we had to go to the vet, he got better. , but he wasn't our Odin. It was then that on February 28, 2024, the blood tests were carried out... one came, another doctor and the third and he looked me in the eyes and said "unfortunately he has leukemia, I'm sorry" I replied OK and the doctors left it was here that I clung to Odin, I started crying, I couldn't stop, I missed him and he is still with me I don't know how to share my feeling. I left the room, made the payment with tears in my eyes looking at everyone in that waiting room, I went down the stairs of the clinic and already on the street I started crying, I cried really loudly.

and I went to the car. I called Mauro and told him, but I was crying so much that I couldn't even get him to understand me. I came home, we looked at each other and cried and here we continue to cry, as I said at the beginning:

«The ground fell, the tears began to fall, despair began to exist and the longing is

starting to haunt our hearts.”

The next step was to visit an oncologist who has been helping with Odin's quality of life (Doctor Natalia). We want to do everything we can to keep Odin comfortable and happy! We are as loyal to him as he has been to us and Nymeria every day. We are not rich, but we have two beautiful and tender hearts and that makes us rich in a way. We appreciate anything, no matter how small, to help our boy. He was everything to us these last 3 years and joined our hearts, and here he has already left his mark and we want him to continue to leave it.

Odin's body put the word betrayal in our paths, but I know that the mind and personality will always be here with the very loving nature that he has. We thank you for your love, friendship and gestures.

P.s Our address was in Portugal, more specifically in Arruda dos Vinhos, today we are living in Krakow-Poland.
