Honouring Jonny's Spirit: Running the Warsaw Marathon
In loving memory of the wonderful Jonathan Preston, who passed away in November 2021 at the age of 51 after a courageous 20-year battle with cancer and its related challenges.
Despite the adversity he faced, Jonny's zest for life and all it offered was huge, as was his sense of humour. His love of travel and physical pursuits was limited by his illness, but he embraced life fully, never allowing his diagnosis or disabilities to define him.
A group of his family and friends are honouring his memory by running the Warsaw Marathon as a tribute to Jonny, who spent most of his adult life living and working in the city, and which had become his second home. He loved Warsaw and his life in this city!
Jonny often felt that the elderly were marginalised, which is why we have chosen Stowarzyszenie mali bracia Ubogich to raise money for. The charity breaks stereotypes about old age and alerts society to the difficult situation faced by elderly people in Poland. The charity organises days out, runs a helpline, and provides meals - including Christmas dinner!
