KIM JESTEŚMY

Jesteśmy nauczycielkami w warszawskim liceum. W czerwcu 2021 poznałyśmy Parwanę, 17-letnią dziewczynę z Afganistanu, która obecnie mieszka w obozie dla uchodźców w Ritsonie (Grecja). Parwana odwiedziła nas podczas naszej zdalnej lekcji i opowiedziała naszym uczniom o tym, jak  udało jej się w czasie pandemii zorganizować w obozie w pełni działającą szkołę. 

Choć formalnie Unia Europejska zapewnia każdemu dziecku dostęp do edukacji, w rzeczywistości większość dzieci w obozach dla uchodźców - nawet 80% -  nie chodzi do szkoły. Unia Europejska i ONZ bezwstydnie przymykają oczy na ten stan rzeczy. Tymczasem niesamowita 17-letnia Parwana zorganizowała ludzi, często dzieciaki, żeby uczyły się nawzajem tego, co potrafią: nadała temu solidną strukturę i pozyskała środki na budowę budynku.  W jej szkole dzieci uczą się po arabsku, po angielsku, po grecku. 

CO CHCEMY OSIĄGNĄĆ

Chcemy wesprzeć Parwanę w jej konsekwentnej walce o łatwiejszy dostęp dzieci i młodzieży do edukacji. Podczas lekcji, na której gościem była Parwana, nasi uczniowie dowiedzieli się jak wygląda życie młodych ludzi w obozie dla uchodźców, jakie dodatkowe wyzwania stanowiła dla nich pandemia. Parwana zapytana, jakiej pomocy oczekują dzieci w obozie, odpowiedziała: “Najważniejszy jest kontakt z innymi. Komunikacja ze światem zewnętrznym, z rówieśnikami żyjącymi poza obozem.” 

Zainspirowane pomysłem naszych uczniów na konwersacje/lekcje online, chcemy rozwinąć Szkołę Latającą, która będzie odbywać się ponad istniejącymi podziałami administracyjnymi, politycznymi czy finansowymi. Od września nasi uczennice i uczniowie będą razem z młodymi z Ritsony robić projekty, uczyć pisania, wymieniać językami. Na początek jednak musimy do obozu zawieźć to, co jest potrzebne do robienia regularnych lekcji zdalnych. Niezbędne minimum to: rzutnik, kilka laptopów, przedłużacze, materiały papiernicze, karty z doładowaniem do telefonu, żeby internet działał. 

Będziemy ogromnie wdzięczne za KAŻDĄ wpłatę, która pozwoli nam na realizację szkoły latającej. 

RITSONA SCHOOL WITHOUT BORDERS

WHO WE ARE

We are social science teachers based in Warsaw. In June 2021 we had the pleasure to meet Parwana, a 17-year-old activist from Afghanistan living in the Ritsona Refugee Camp (Greece). Parwana joined our online class and told our students about how she managed to start a fully operational school in the camp. 

According to EU law each child has guaranteed access to education, however most children in European refugee camps (even up to 80%) do not go to school, and the EU and UN remain shamefully passive in this area. Against this backdrop, Parwana Amiri managed to organise a group of teenagers to create a small learning community. She created a solid structure and collected funds for the establishment of a small school. Her students are studying in Arabic, English, Greek. 

OUR GOAL

Our aim is to support Parwana in her consistent struggle to provide easy access to education for young people. Parvana attended an online lesson at  our school and responded to our students’ questions, explaining what life looks like for young people at a refugee camp, and what further challenges she encountered as a result of the pandemic.  When asked what kind of help children in the camp might hope for, she answered that “the most important thing is contact with others, communication with the outside world, with their peers outside the camp.”  Inspired by our students’ ideas during the online lesson, we want to create a “school without borders” which would transcend the existing administrative, political and financial structures.  You may find more information about Parwana’s work here: https://minorityrights.org/trends2021/greece/ 

From September, our students will begin a project together with the young people at Ritsona, teaching writing and exchanging languages. In order to put this plan into motion, however, we must first visit the camp in order to determine what is needed there to provide regular, online education.  The bare essentials are: a projector, several laptops, adaptors, various stationery, sim cards topped-up with credit in order to secure internet access. 

We will be enormously grateful for EVERY contribution that helps us in our quest to make the “school without borders” a reality.
