My youngest neighbor is a titan: even against severe brain hemorrhage and hydrocephalus, he fights with everything he has.

At 34 weeks, while in his mom's belly, doctors were convinced he would never hear, see or move on his own. Short 3 weeks later he came into the world, crying his tiny battle roar, hands swinging, feet kicking and more importantly: breathing on his own. At 1 month old he already pulled through a difficult surgery in Katowice, where the best specialists in pediatric neurosurgery installed a ventriculoperitoneal shunt, which will collect excess fluid from the brain and transport it to the belly.

Nikodem's parents, both medical professionals cannot be happier and more proud, but the reality is cruel: they do not have enough money to fund intensive rehabilitation, that Nikodem requires, to live a normal life.
