Hi! We are a group of Alek's friends and we created this fundraiser to help him overcome the last straight in his run to independence. If you run or spend your time actively, you may have met Alek, or rather "Alek Runner", on your way. His hobby is amateur running, he has completed several dozen marathons and dozens if not hundreds of charity runs. He also competed run in Cyprus and the Netherlands (and this year, if the situation allows it, also in the 50 TCS New York City Marathon). And he did it all in a wheelchair!

Alek is 33 years old, 11 years ago he woke up from a coma that lasted over a year and was the result of a brain tumor. After awakening, a second life began for Alek, full of new challenges. After many months of intensive rehabilitation, Alek began to use a wheelchair. Despite the fact that he is accompanied by quadriplegia, disturbed perception of sight, hearing and taste, he passed his secondary school diploma, he still works and bravely faces everyday life. His dream has long been to become independent and live in his own apartment on his own terms.

Currently, Alek lives with his parents in Mikołów, thanks to the money he earned and the support of his family, he bought and renovated his first independent apartment. He bought the necessary equipment and ... could move in if he hadn't run out of money literally on the final straight. About PLN 17,000 is missing for the purchase of the necessary equipment and fittings. As a group of friends, we are not able to collect this amount. That is why we are asking you for help. We believe that despite the difficult situation in which we probably all are, human kindness and solidarity, will prevail. Penny to penny, we hope to finally be able to make Alek's dream come true and allow him to move to his own apartment.
