There are currently over 2.5 million Ukrainian refugees in Poland, including over a million children. Myself and publisher Wickwick books are working together to do a special print run of children's picture books in Ukrainian. With publisher, project manager and printer all donating their time and IP, your donation will directly cover print costs - the total cost comes to less than 10 PLN per book.

You might ask whether books are a priority in this moment, and I would say firstly - do also donate to other organisations that are providing food, shelter and other things! But for the cost of a cup of coffee, a book can be a moment of connection, a bedtime ritual, or a way to process emotions. These things are important too.

The book itself is Colin the Caring Crab, about a crab who has to turn to his friends to help him build a new home - we thought in the circumstances the message would resonate, plus the illustrator is also Ukrainian.
