About the Committee for Ukrainian Museums

Russia's aggression against Ukraine causes countless crimes, suffering and victims. In such circumstances, the most important are people - civilians exposed to barbaric bombing, soldiers fighting the aggressor, dying civilians.

However, every war also means irreparable losses in national heritage and culture. The Committee for Ukrainian Museums was established at the beginning of March, and in the first two months of operation, more than 40 institutions in Ukraine have already received material support. Our activities so far have included the organization of transports with materials necessary for the protection, conservation and digitization of museum works, as well as support in the purchase of computer equipment.

The activities of the Committee are supported by numerous foreign partners, incl. The Metropolitan Museum and the Museum of Modern Art, the University Museum of Bergen, the Swiss foundation Stiftung für Kunst, Kultur und Geschichte, as well as the Estonian National Library and the European Parliament.

Constant contact with Ukrainian museum workers shows us, however, that the scale of the needs is huge. In addition to our activities so far - supporting museums in the protection of collections - we want to extend our scope of assistance to support museums in rebuilding and removing the effects of damage.

Therefore, we are continuing to raise money, which is entirely dedicated to helping Ukrainian museums - both those that ask for help in saving the collections, and those that are already planning to rebuild and remove the effects of war damage.

The fundraiser on behalf of the Committee for Ukrainian Museums is run by the Paweł Włodkowic Institute.

All funds will be allocated to the purchase of equipment necessary for the reconstruction and protection of Ukraine's cultural heritage.

Ruská agrese proti Ukrajině způsobuje nesčetné zločiny, utrpení a oběti. Za takových okolností jsou nejdůležitější lidé - civilisté vystavení barbarskému bombardování, vojáci bojující proti agresorovi i umírající civilisté.

Každá válka však znamená také nenapravitelné ztráty na národním dědictví a kultuře. Před dvěma měsíci byl založen Výbor pro ukrajinská muzea, díky němuž se pomoc dostala již do více než 40 institucí na Ukrajině. Naše dosavadní aktivity zahrnovaly organizaci transportu s materiálem potřebným pro ochranu, konzervaci a digitalizaci muzejních děl a také podporu při nákupu počítačového vybavení.

Činnost výboru podporuje řada zahraničních partnerů, mj. Metropolitní muzeum a Muzeum moderního umění, Univerzitní muzeum v Bergenu, švýcarská nadace Stiftung für Kunst, Kultur und Geschichte, Estonská národní knihovna a Evropský parlament.

Stálý kontakt s ukrajinskými muzejníky nám však ukazuje, že rozsah potřeb je obrovský. Kromě dosavadních aktivit - podpory muzeí při ochraně sbírek - chceme rozšířit škálu naší pomoci o podporu muzeí při obnově a odstraňování následků škod.

Proto pokračujeme ve shromažďování peněz, které jsou zcela určeny na pomoc ukrajinským muzeím -  jak těm, která žádají o pomoc při záchraně sbírek, tak těm, která již plánují obnovu a odstranění následků válečných škod.

Sbírku jménem Výboru pro ukrajinská muzea pořádá Institut Pawła Włodkowice.

Veškeré finanční prostředky budou určeny na nákup vybavení nezbytného pro rekonstrukci a ochranu kulturního dědictví Ukrajiny.
