KIM JESTEŚMY

Niepubliczna Szkoła Terapii Behawioralnej dla Dzieci z Autyzmem we Wrocławiu to szkoła podstawowa z oddziałami przedszkolnymi dla dzieci i młodzieży z autyzmem.

Jesteśmy jedyną we Wrocławiu i na Dolnym Śląsku szkołą behawioralną – tu wiodące w nauczaniu i terapii są założenia stosowanej analizy zachowania (SAZ).

NASZE POCZĄTKI

Świadomość ogromnej potrzeby zmiany podejścia do edukacji osób z zaburzeniami ze spektrum autyzmu stała się przyczynkiem do powstania NSTB.

Szkoła rozpoczęła swoją działalność we wrześniu 2011 r. z inicjatywy Rodziców czworo dzieci z autyzmem, którzy dzięki swojej ogromnej determinacji i zaangażowaniu doprowadzili do utworzenia pierwszej na Dolnym Śląsku szkoły behawioralnej.

Dlaczego behawioralnej? …. ponieważ skuteczność procedur behawioralnych w edukacji i terapii osób z autyzmem została naukowo udowodniona.

Organem prowadzącym NSTB jest Dolnośląskie Stowarzyszenie Terapii Behawioralnej dla Osób z Autyzmem „Aktywny Umysł” - zrzesza rodziców, nauczycieli-terapeutów oraz osoby zaangażowane, natomiast opiekę merytoryczną nad działalnością edukacyjną i terapeutyczną szkoły sprawuje Polskie Stowarzyszenie Terapii Behawioralnej (PSTB) z siedzibą w Krakowie.

JAK FUNKCJONUJEMY TERAZ

NSTB mieści się w niezależnym pod względem funkcjonalnym budynku (200 m2) wynajmowanym od Zespołu Szkół nr 18 we Wrocławiu.

Dysponujemy 3 pomieszczeniami dydaktycznymi, kuchnią, pokojem wielozadaniowym, 2 kompleksami łazienkowymi i szatnią.

Korzystamy z odrębnej sali gimnastycznej oraz boiska wielofunkcyjnego ZS nr 18.

Obecnie w szkole zorganizowanych jest 9 oddziałów szkoły podstawowej, w których kształci się 15 uczniów w wieku od 9 do 17 lat oraz 2 oddziały przedszkolne dla 3 wychowanków w wieku od 4 do 8 lat.



CO NAS WYRÓŻNIA

Specjalistyczny profil NSTB i nowatorskie rozwiązania organizacyjne i metodyczne stanowią o odmienności i wyjątkowości szkoły, a przede wszystkim o jej skuteczności.

Nasze najważniejszych innowacje:

-- nauka w 1-2 osobowych oddziałach edukacyjno-terapeutycznych zorientowana na kształcenie funkcjonalnych umiejętności społecznych, osobistych i komunikacyjnych,

-- wdrożenie jednolitego systemu współpracy z rodzicami – tzw. diada wychowawcza,

-- wdrożenie systemu kształcenia wysoce wyspecjalizowanego zespołu terapeutów behawioralnych,

-- monitoring i ewaluacja działalności NSTB przez certyfikowanych superwizorów Polskiego Stowarzyszenia Terapii Behawioralnej z trzech ośrodków SAZ w Polsce (Kraków, Poznań, Warszawa).

-- prowadzimy  Punkt Konsultacyjno-Terapeutyczny dla osób i rodzin osób z autyzmem z Dolnego Śląska (oferujemy terapie indywidualne i grupowe oraz warsztaty szkoleniowe i sympozja dla rodziców, nauczycieli i specjalistów),

-- prowadziliśmy zajęcia dla studentów Dolnośląskiej Szkoły Wyższej z zakresu terapii behawioralnej oraz prowadzimy staże behawioralne dla przyszłych licencjonowanych terapeutów behawioralnych.

! Chcemy stworzyć komfortowe i w pełni odpowiadające na potrzeby warunki nauki i terapii dla naszych obecnych uczniów i wychowanków oraz przestrzeń dla dalszych działań na rzecz osób z autyzmem i ich rodzin.

!! Chcemy zwiększyć ilość oddziałów przedszkolnych dla najmłodszych dzieci, bo wiemy, że wczesna intensywna interwencja behawioralna jest najbardziej skuteczna.

!!! Chcemy zapewnić miejsce na naukę i terapię dla stale rosnącej grupy rodzin dzieci z autyzmem, która jest świadoma, że stosowana analiza zachowania jest skuteczna w edukacji osób ze spektrum autyzmu.

CO NAM SIĘ JUŻ UDAŁO

-- w porozumieniu z Departamentem Edukacji pozyskaliśmy nowy budynek (nowe 190 m2) bezpośrednio przylegający do naszej szkoły, który wymaga całkowitego remontu i dostosowania do naszych oczekiwań,

-- stworzyliśmy we współpracy z pracownią projektową SHI Elizy Suder funkcjonalną koncepcję nowej szkoły

-- staramy się o dofinansowanie z programu PFRON Urzędu Marszałkowskiego na zagospodarowanie pozyskanego budynku.

WHO WE ARE

School of Behavioural Therapy for Children with Autism in Wroclaw Poland (NSTB) is primary school and kindergarden for children and young people with autism.

We are the only behavioural therapy and applied behaviour analysis (ABA)

school in Wrocław and in Lower Silesia.

OUR BEGINNINGS

Our awareness that change was necessary in the approach to the education of persons on the autism spectrum triggered us to set up the NSTB.

The school opened in September 2011 on the initiative of parents of 4 children with autism. Due to their immense determination and commitment, they succeeded in creating the first school of behavioural therapy in Lower Silesia.

Why behavioural? …. Because the effectiveness of behavioural procedures in education and therapy of the persons with autism has been scientifically proven.

The school is run by the Lower Silesian Association for Behavioural Therapy of Persons with Autism “Active Mind.” It brings together parents, teachers and therapists and persons involved in the process. The school is supervised by the Polish Association of Behavioural Therapy (PSTB) located in Krakow.

HOW WE FUNCTION NOW

The NSTB is lcoated in an independent and functional building (200 m2) rented from Zespół Szkół nr 18 in Wrocław.

We have at our disposal 3 classrooms, a kitchen, amulti-activity room, 2 bathrooms and a cloakroom.

We can use a separate gym and the playfield on the premises of ZS nr 18.

At present, 15 students aged from 9 to 17 learn in 9 classes comprising the primary school, and 3 pupils aged from 4 to 8 attend 2 kindergarden classes.



WHAT MAKES US SPECIAL

The NSTB specialised profile and innovative organizational and methodological solutions make our school an exceptional achievement, especially when the effectiveness of the therapeutic process is considered.

Our core innovations:

-   Learning in 1-2 student classes in an educational-therapeutic process oriented towards developing functional social, personal and communication skills;

-   Implementation of the unified system of cooperating with parents – the so-called educational dyad;

-   Implementation of the behavioural therapist advancement path system to develop a highly specialised and cooperative team;

-   School auditing and evaluation by certified supervisors of the Polish Association for Behavioural Therapy from three ABA centres in Poland (Cracow, Poznan, Warsaw).

OUR PRIORITIES

- the NSTB aids in multi-directional development of our students, encouraging their social and communicational skills. The school puts pressure on the functionality of skills taught at school and creates friendly environments for the kids, young adults and their parent;

- the NSTB assists families and carers of persons with Autism;

- the school promotes Applied Behavior Analysis as an effecive method of learning and therapy for persons with autism.

WHAT WE ARE PROUD OF – OUR MAIN ACHIEVEMENTS

-- Already for 4 years we have been organizing classes in wall climbing, and since 2018 we have started crossfit classes for junior and senior students of the NSTB

-- every year kids, parents and teachers go for mountain trips as well as horse-riding and climbing camps

- we take part in school, inter-school and national climbing championships for people with disabilities

- we spread awareness and share our knowledge about autism – we organized the NSTB Blue Picnic in cooperation with the Heart of Szczepin Assiociation and the local council Rada Osiedla Szczepin

- we involve our Partners and utilise their sports facilities in social initiatives during Autism Awareness Month – together we organised the Charity Rowing Half-Marathon and April Climbing Routes “Autistic – Fantastic” to launch our fund-raising initiative for NSTB



- we run the Consultation and Therapy Centre for persons with autism and their families from Lower Silesia (we offer individual and group therapies as well as training courses and symposia for parents and specialists);

- we ran classes for students from the Lower Silesian University in the field of behavioural therapy and we offer internships to pending licensed behavioural therapists.

PARTNERS IN OUR ACTIVITIES … long-term, newer and totally new:

Tarnogaj Climbing Centre in Wroclaw, Bridge Nation CrossFit (Wroclaw), the Magic Mountain Foundation (Rudawy Janowickie), the Mountaineers Lodge in the Jizera Mountains, the Heart of Szczepin Association (Wroclaw), the Able Climbing (Cracow).

WHY THE SCHOOL OF BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM HAS TO DEVELOP

! We want to create comfortable, suitable and efficient conditions for the learning needs and therapy of our present students and the space for future work for the benefit of persons with autism and their carers.

!! We want to increase the number of kindergarten groups for the youngest children because we research shows the effectiveness and importance of early intensive behavioural therapy.

!!! We want to secure a place for learning and therapy for the continuously growing group of families with children with autism who are aware that applied behaviour analysis is highly effective in the education of persons on the autism spectrum.

WHAT WE HAVE ALREADY ACHIEVED

-- we have secured a new location of 190 m2 adjacent to our present school in agreement with the Department of Education. The building requires thorough renovation and adjustment to our school’s needs.

-- With the SHI designer company owned by Eliza Suder, we have in cooperation created a functional concept of our school.

-- we are trying to obtain funding from the PFRON through local authorities to renovate the building
